Distance Reiki: does it really work? How I do it online

I know what might be going through your mind right now.

"Wait, Reiki through a phone screen? How can energy travel miles and reach me, lying in my bed, on the other side of the country?"

It's an honest question. And I love when it comes up, because it means you are truly paying attention — not just swallowing any pretty promise.

So take a deep breath with me. I'm going to explain gently, in my own way, how distance Reiki works here in my care space. No complicated mystery, no miraculous promises. Just the truth, filled with care.

Does distance Reiki really work?

I'll start with the question that brought you here.

The short answer is: yes, it works. And I'll explain why.

Reiki works with energy. And energy doesn't have a zip code, it has no borders, it doesn't stop at your front gate. The idea behind distance Reiki is simple and ancient: we are all connected. You, me, everything around us — we are made of the same energy that moves the universe. It's this invisible web that allows me to connect with you, whether you're in the next room or in another city.

In a distance session, the energy I channel reaches you in the exact same way it would if you were lying right in front of me. What changes is just the bridge. The exchange, the intention, the welcoming care — all of that remains the same.

Now, let me be honest with you, because honesty is a rule here.

Reiki is a therapy that supports your well-being. It helps you relax, relieve tension, and quiet an overactive mind. Many people feel less anxiety, sleep better, and come away feeling lighter. But it does not cure illnesses and does not replace the care of your doctor or therapist. Think of it as an energetic hug walking alongside your healthcare — never taking its place. Anyone promising you a miracle cure isn't being fair with you.

How does an online session work?

Let me take you by the hand and show you how it works, from start to finish.

First of all, we talk. You tell me what you're feeling, what brought you here, what your heart is asking for. This moment is important — it's where I understand your journey and where you feel welcomed to open up.

Then, we schedule the time. And here comes the sweetest part: you don't need to do anything complicated.

On the agreed day and time, you prepare like this:

  • Choose a quiet spot where no one will interrupt you
  • Lie down or sit comfortably in light clothing
  • You can play soft music quietly in the background if you like
  • Relax your body, close your eyes, and simply receive

Meanwhile, on my end, I connect with you. I do my preparation, tune into your energy, and begin channeling Reiki, directing this healing energy toward the points in you that are asking for more attention, more inner light.

We don't even need to be on a video call the whole time. In many sessions, we agree on a time, you relax in your space, I work in mine, and then we talk about how it felt. It's a silent dance between two people connected by the same intention.

Because I practice Shamanic Reiki, I also bring ancestral wisdom into the session — the strength of the four elements of nature, the connection with the Earth, with what is greater than us. It's a healing that respects your roots and invites you inside yourself.

Do I feel the same thing as in person?

This is perhaps the most beautiful question to answer.

Many people who have experienced both — in person and online — tell me the same thing: the feeling is very similar. Some women feel even greater depth online because they are in the comfort of their own home, in their cozy nest, without the shyness of a new environment.

And what might you feel? Every body responds in its own way, but it's common to experience:

  • A pleasant warmth flowing through your body
  • A light tingling, as if something were moving inside
  • A relaxation so deep that you almost fall asleep
  • An urge to cry — not out of sadness, but relief, letting go of what was stuck

And look how important this is: some days you won't feel "anything" out of the ordinary. No warmth, no chills. And that's completely okay. It doesn't mean it didn't work. Many times a person "didn't feel anything" during the session and ends up remarkably lighter, calmer, with their soul breathing easier.

Reiki is also cumulative. The first session can be subtle, almost quiet. Then, session after session, it deepens, like a seed you water bit by bit until it blossoms.

So don't compare your experience with anyone else's. Your journey is uniquely yours.

Do I need to do anything during the session?

I want this part to bring you relief: no, you don't need to do practically anything.

And maybe that's exactly why it feels a bit hard at first — because we live our lives running, doing, solving, and rarely allow ourselves to just receive.

Your only "task" is to surrender to the moment. Find your quiet spot, relax your body, take a deep breath, and allow. You don't need to force your mind to go blank or try hard to feel something. If a thought comes, let it pass like a cloud in the sky. If you feel like crying, cry. If you get sleepy, sleep — the Reiki keeps flowing to you.

A few simple things that help you make the most of it:

  • Drink plenty of water afterward (energy moves things inside us, and water helps it flow)
  • Don't schedule a rushed appointment right after — give yourself time to breathe
  • Notice how you feel in the following hours and days, without putting pressure on yourself

The rest is up to me. You just need to open up space to be cared for.

If something inside you lit up while reading this, perhaps it's your inner light asking for a little time and care.

I would love to chat with you. No commitment, no pressure — just an open-hearted conversation so I can understand what you're going through and explain what your distance Reiki session with me could be like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is distance Reiki as effective as in-person Reiki?

For Reiki, physical distance is not a barrier, since the work is done in the field of energy. Many people report feeling the same effects of relaxation and well-being in both forms. Always remembering: it is a supportive therapy, not a substitute for medical care.

Do I need to be on a video call the whole time?

Not necessarily. We agree on the best format for you. In many sessions, we set a time, you relax in your space, and afterward we chat about the experience. The important thing is that you feel calm and open to receive.

Does it work for anxiety and insomnia?

Many women seek out Reiki precisely looking for more calm, better sleep, and relief from daily tension — and report great results. It works by promoting deep relaxation. But if you live with severe anxiety or insomnia, Reiki walks alongside your professional care, never replacing it.

How many sessions do I need to do?

There is no magic number. Reiki is cumulative, so regular care usually deepens the experience. We sense together, at your own pace, what feels good for you — without pressure or forced packages.
